Are You Using Too Much Vitamin C?

Are You Using Too Much Vitamin C?

So, at this stage, vitamin C is a staple in most of our topical skincare routines. You can get a decent quality single ingredient vitamin C Serum in most stores.

But I need to ask you this…

Do you have your hands on my Dark Spot Clearing Serum & are you still applying an additional vitamin C serum each day???

Now don’t get me wrong, topical vitamin C is one of those gold-standard skincare ingredients for a reason.

When used consistently, it helps:

Brighten dull skin – it helps even out tone and gives your skin that radiant, healthy glow.

Fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation – it inhibits melanin production, making it a go-to for sun spots, acne marks, and melasma.

Boost collagen production – vitamin C stimulates collagen synthesis, which helps firm the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Protect against environmental damage – as a potent antioxidant, it shields skin from free radicals caused by UV rays and pollution.

Improve skin texture – over time, it can smooth rough patches and leave skin feeling more refined and supple.

But the thing is, my Dark Spot Clearing Serum is, in fact, a vitamin C based serum! It is an in depth formula, harnessing the power of ALL the best ingredients to help your skin concerns, thus eliminating the need to use many many different single ingredient serums.

So what this means is you actually DO NOT NEED any extra vitamin C serums in your routine.

Did you know, that using too much vitamin C on your face topically can actually do more harm than good?

So yes, while it’s a powerful antioxidant that brightens skin and fades dark spots, overdoing it can lead to:

Irritation and redness – especially if your skin is sensitive or you're using a high concentration (like over 20%).

Dryness and flaking – vitamin C in strong doses can disrupt your skin barrier, leading to tight, peeling skin.

Breakouts – not super common, but if you layer it with too many actives (like AHAs, BHAs, or retinol), it can cause inflammation and trigger acne.

Increased sensitivity to sun – ironic, since it’s meant to protect against free radicals, but if your skin barrier is compromised, sun exposure can sting or make things worse.

Yellowing of the skin or product – if the formula oxidizes (turns brown), it can stain the skin slightly or stop being effective altogether.

Let me leave you with a little note on Vit C. For the very best results, use it in the morning under SPF. This is like giving your skin a shield and a glow-up at the same time.

Oh, and don’t worry, you can still use your Vitamin C supplement blends (like your Hyperpigmentation Cleanse, Acne Cleanse or Anti-Aging Complex) as coupling it up with an ingestible and topical will actually help increase its benefits!

Get the bright & glowing skin you deserve with your Dark Spot Clearing Serum!
