Humidity & its effect on the skin

Humidity & its effect on the skin

Have you found that as it’s heating up that your skin has ramped up the oil factor & that your skin is suddenly breaking out? Do you find that every time you take a Sumer vacation that you skin tends to breakout more in the humid weather? Have you even found you get a sudden body acne breakout? Well you’re not alone. Let me tell you why this tends to happen.

When the weather is humid it means that there is a lot of moisture in the air. That causes the pores of the skin to open and makes them susceptible to gathering dirt, oil and allergens. Humidity envelops the skin in a thick blanket of heat and moisture, which also causes the skin to increase sebum production. This excess sebum can lead to congestion and the blocking of pores, and can cause breakouts, particularly blackheads and whiteheads. Too much humidity can also lead to problems like acne, skin breakouts, eczema and allergic reactions that show up on the skin. Many people who live in humid climates often complain of a condition they call “tropical acne.”

The fist and most important thing to remember if you are in a humid location is to keep hands away from your face. In humid climates you already have sweat on the face, don’t add bacteria from your hands as well. Secondly, always ensure you are drinking PLENTY of water. You need to keep hydration levels up, plus it helps to flush out any toxins in the skin. You should aim for about 3 litres/1 gallon of water per day.

Now we can feed our skin some incredible ingredients that help keep the pores clear of debris & help regulate the sebum production.

Red Clover helps preserve a bright, smooth complexion by reducing acne breakouts, refining pores, and minimising texture. It also helps boost circulation to promote a healthy glow, and can speed up the skin's natural healing process to maintain clear skin.

Burdock Root helps combat acne breakouts thanks to its anti-bacterial properties, helping to promote a clear, smooth complexion. It also possesses soothing properties to reduce inflammation, improve skin tone, and minimise texture for fresh, glowing skin.

Echinacea has soothing properties that helps boost the skin's moisture content and helps restore a calm, balanced complexion. It has a cooling effect on the skin that helps reduce the inflammation and redness associated with acne and breakouts to improve skin tone and colour.

Pomegranate Fruit Extract helps replenish moisture in the skin to give the face a refreshing glow. It promotes a smooth, bright complexion by effectively helping to fade and prevent hyperpigmentation and discolouration. It also possesses anti-ageing benefits to support youthful, radiant skin.
