As a proud Aussie, there were a few Aussie botanicals that I just knew I had to incorporate into my skincare range as we were developing them. Today I want to tell you about the cutest of them all, Australian Daisy, aka Cehami.
The Australian daisy, as it’s name suggests, is a plant native to Australia, commonly known as Old Man Weed or Cehami. This small, perennial herb belongs to the Asteraceae family and has been traditionally used by Aboriginal Australians for its medicinal properties. Its flowers are typically white or yellow and it is known for its resilience and ability to thrive in various soil conditions.
Indigenous Australians have long used Centipeda Cunninghamii for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and healing properties. It was applied to wounds, sores, and various skin conditions. In contemporary skincare, it is loved for its bioactive compounds that offer multiple skin benefits.
When developing my Dark Spot Clearing Serum, I honed in on it as a key ingredient as it is particularly fabulous for addressing hyperpigmentation and improving skin texture.
This is what I love most about it...
Its anti-inflammatory properties
Cehami is rich in bioactive compounds that significantly reduce inflammation. This helps to soothe irritated skin, which can prevent and reduce the formation of dark spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Its antioxidant benefits
The extract contains high levels of antioxidants that protect the skin from free radical damage. This helps prevent new dark spots from forming due to environmental stressors like UV exposure and pollution.
Its ability to promote cell regeneration
Cehami promotes faster skin cell turnover and regeneration. By accelerating this process, it aids in the fading of existing dark spots and improves overall skin texture, making the skin look smoother and more even-toned.
Its moisturising and hydrating properties
It also has strong moisturizing properties, which help to keep the skin hydrated. Well-hydrated skin tends to heal better and faster, aiding in the reduction of dark spots and improving overall skin appearance.
Most importantly, it Inhibition of melanin production
Cehami inhibits the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme crucial for melanin production. By reducing melanin synthesis, it helps lighten existing hyperpigmentation and prevents the formation of new dark spots.
All of these properties that Australian Daisy possess makes it ever so effective in renewing skin texture, evening out skin tone, and reducing the appearance of dark spots and other forms of hyperpigmentation. This is why it is one of the key compounds that makes my Dark Spot Clearing Serum so effective in promoting a clearer, more even complexion.
